The 3rd Round Slump

Here are some pictures of the large array of maintenance work we are doing here on third round.

Josh can take twin pictures on his phone.

The beginning of Round 3

So here I am hanging out in good ol' Newburgh, NY. Round 3 started on Wednesday so right now we're just getting into the swing of things. As of now if seems like we have a really great sponsor through Groundwork Hudson Valley, they're very straightforward, we've even been given a schedule which is just awesome. I mean so far we've really just pulled some weeds and pruned with a little painting thrown in, but we're working at a few different places so I'm sure we'll see how it goes next week. Our housing is awesome, we're staying at Mount St. Mary's in the college dorms and they are so nice. I lucked out with a room to myself and we even have wifi, which needless to say is a first and I'm pretty pumped about it.

Newburgh itself is interesting, when you talk to people who live around here they insist that it's very unsafe and well ghetto. And don't get me wrong this isn't upperclass suburbia but I definitely don't feel uncomfortable here. While there may be some obvious problems it definitely isn't a Detroit or a Camden. There's a very diverse community here and it's really just pretty cool. You go from the neighborhoods, to the college, to the waterfront which by the way is beautiful and full of really great looking restaurants.

I'm accepting the area, giving AmeriCorps another shot, and really just trying to plan a trip to NYC. Anyway I've included some pictures.
